    Re: Dream Act passes House...

It's helps them become LEGAL and they are considered legal while in the program. If they are willing to get a college education, which they must have a HS diploma first or join the miliatry and risk their life for a country that doesn't give a damn about them...why in the world should anyone be against that? I personally don't care about illegals, I don't mind helping them, they are no different from me and I am no better because I lucked up and was born here. They aren't a threat to my job, my education, my life etc and really not a threat to anyone elses either no matter how much they claim. This country was built on these immigrants coming in here, our ancestors were, I have a lot of irish in my family and they were treated like scum too when they came over. We have a tendency to get all high and mighty, it's nothing new, but we need to come down a few notches and get off our high horses. We're nothing special and we don't deserve anything more because our mothers popped us out this side of the border.

What problems would, love to know?

Failed the Senate vote anyway today, so now a lot of kids have to suffer and a lot of futures ruined. Was happy we moved forward as a nation with the repeal of DADT, but cancels a lot of it out when this didn't pass.

population problems with schools for one, south carolina is already struggling MIGHTILY with overpopulation of schools from the influx of immigrant students. Georgia is going through the same thing. Its not that i wouldnt want to see these kids get an education and legal status, its that we just cant do it. What are we going to do PLACE them in cities and dictate where/how they live so we can take care of them? We already have kids in this country that cant afford to go to school, we need to insure the education of people who are already here before we bring in outside parties and promise them legal status through education/military/whatever. And what if these people dont finish school and are just here, are we going to remove them from the country, no, they will just BE here illegally? You need to think about the negatives that could have come from this. Overpopulation, more people sneaking in hoping for something like this in the future.

Impacts of Illegal Immigration: American Infrastructure

i just want to mark this point if you dont make it this far down, *ill agree some of this is just speculation*

*Finally, another negative aspect of illegal immigration, that few realize, is the impact it is having on Congressional reapportionment. Remember, the Census Bureau counts all people for determining representative apportionment, not just citizens. As a result, there is a shift of political power going on from the states with lower illegal alien populations to states with higher illegal alien populations as noted in a Center for Immigration Studies article, Remaking the Political Landscape - The Impact of Illegal and Legal Immigration on Congressional Apportionment*

Over population isn't really that much of a problem, it is somewhat in the cities, but that has as much to do with legal citizens moving there as much as illegals. We aren't placing them anywhere, they're already here, that's the whole point of the bill and who it is aimed at. They would be attending the same highschool they graduated from, this bill isn't saying here come over here and it's not a grant - they have to pay for college like any other person. There's several requirements to even be put in the program, which all it is that if they get a degree or serve in the military(for 8 years I believe), they get their citizenship. You have to have proof you lived here for 5 years, so it's not run on over here and sign up. It's really nothing special, just an easier path to citizenship for kids who haven't done anything wrong and are committed to bettering themselves. I don't see the problem. They aren't even eligible for pell grants under it.

They are granted conditional status, then have a time period to complete either the degree or military service, then granted permanent legal status. If they don't, they are an illegal and can be deported like anyone else - and that's a lot considering the Obama admin has deported a record number of illegals so far.

And yeah, most of them are far-fetched. But the one you quoted is actually great. Higher population = more representatives for your state. Higher population = more federal funds allocated for your state and census numbers are used to allocate A LOT of money. Only reason that was thrown in there is because it's a right-wing site(no disputing that) and hispanics vote with dems far more than reps. Really no problem with more representatives and more money for your state.
